CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. -- Troopers have released the name of the man killed and woman seriously injured in a Friday morning crash on Interstate 95, near Route 288, in Chesterfield County.
"A GMC van was traveling southbound I-95 when [the driver] hydroplaned losing control, hitting the jersey wall and rested in the left lane," a Virginia State Police spokesperson said. "A Chevrolet Impala was traveling southbound striking [the van] head on, forcing the van to flip around and rest in the right lane,"
The man driving the Impala, 23-year-old Lydell M. Mosby of Richmond, died at the scene, troopers said.
Officials said the woman driving the van, 18-year-old La' Isis Jones, suffered serious injuries and was taken to an area hospital.
"Virginia State Police are still attempting to locate the white tractor trailer that sideswiped both vehicles," the state police spokesperson said. “The white tractor trailer should have damage and or paint transfer on the right front corner and sides."
Officials said no other semis were involved.
"Wet roadway conditions and speed are being considered factors into the cause of the crash," officials said. "Charges are pending at this time."
The crash was reported at 4:39 a.m. and remains under investigation.
