POWHATAN COUNTY, Va. -- A Powhatan man was killed Thursday morning in a Christmas Eve crash.
Virginia State Police responded to a single-vehicle crash in the 2000 block of Red Lane Road at about 7:12 a.m.
"A 1994 GMC Jimmy was traveling south on Red Lane Road. The driver, Kevin Mitchell, 59, of Powhatan Virginia, drove off the right side of the road and struck a tree," a Virginia State Police spokesperson wrote in an email. "Mitchell, who was not wearing a seatbelt, succumbed to his injuries at the hospital. Mitchell was alone in the vehicle."
An investigation into the crash remained ongoing.
