Man facing 7 felonies after traveling to Richmond in attempt to have sex with child

A man who traveled from Newport News to Richmond in hopes of having sex with a 10-year-old girl is now facing seven felony charges.

RICHMOND, Va. -- A man who traveled from Newport News to Richmond in hopes of having sex with a 10-year-old girl is now facing seven felony charges.

Peter T. Garbo, 46, of the 7300 block of Roanoke Avenue in Newport News was arrested in Richmond on Friday March 6 after traveling to attempt to have sex with who he thought was a 10-year-old girl.

He has been charged with seven felony offenses of solicitation of a minor using an electronic communication system.

RPD detectives and the Southern Virginia Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force conducted an undercover operation, with assistance from the Newport News Police Department. No child was ever in danger.
