RICHMOND, Va. -- Crime Insider sources say a man is accused of stealing and crashing cars in Richmond and Henrico.
On August 22, a man was seen on surveillance video grabbing a few cases of beer before walking out the door of the Exxon in the 1100 block of Jeff Davis Highway in Richmond without paying.
The clerk confronted him at a car wash, but backed off after the man threatened him by saying he had a gun and would use it.
The man can then be seen trying to make a getaway on a bicycle, but had a hard time trying to balance four cases of beer.
CI sources said he then appeared a week later on the same store’s camera where he was seen swiping a car after someone left it running at a gas pump.
Police said he later crashed that car in Henrico.
Richmond Police confirm around 1:30 early Saturday morning, Watson is accused of a similar crime. They said he came back to the 1100 block of Jeff Davis Highway, stole a car, and went on a joy ride before crashing again.
Police said it was Watson's second stolen car in two days.
The first ended in a head-on crash on Nine Mile Road near Evergreen.
Watson is also accused of being under the influence and driving the wrong way down Nine Mile for at least a half-mile.
He was taken to the hospital for his injuries, where another driver was treated and released.
CI sources said the second stolen car was crashed early Saturday morning at Nine Mile and Meadow Spring which is just a few blocks from Thursday's crash site.
Watson is at Henrico Jail West with no bond.
