KING WILLIAM, Va. – A lockdown has been lifted at a King William County school after a threatening note that was found inside the school building Wednesday.

School officials say Hamilton-Holmes Middle School administrators were made aware of the threatening note at 9:15 a.m. Those officials contacted the King William Sheriff’s Department who assisted with the investigation.

The school was placed on lockdown out of an abundance of caution, according to school officials.

“This incident is isolated to HHMS and all instruction will continue within the classrooms,” King William school officials posted on Facebook.

An investigation determined that the threat was not credible, prompting the school to lift the lockdown.
