RICHMOND, Va. -- Dozens of people will pick up the pickleball paddle for a good cause this weekend.
The inaugural Jacob’s Chance Classic Pickleball Tournament kicks off Saturday, March 8, at Bangers & Dinks.
The tournament helps fund the nonprofit’s mission of reducing social isolation by providing accessible sports and life skills programs for people ages 4 to 40 with intellectual or developmental disabilities.
Jacob’s Chance Executive Director Kate Mardigan says the event also celebrates her team’s work to create a more inclusive community.
"This is a great moment for people to see who we are serving and how amazing they are and what a great part of the community," said Mardigan. "They do so much for the community, and this is a great moment just to have them be able to shine."
