CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. -- The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) released a final report on Wednesday about a deadly August 2017 helicopter crash outside of Charlottesville that killed two Virginia state troopers.

On August 12 2017, Virginia State Police Trooper Jay Cullen of Midlothian and Trooper-Pilot Berke Bates of New Kent County were killed when their helicopter crashed outside of Charlottesville. Their chopper was being used to monitor the deadly white supremacist "Unite The Right" rally, where 32-year-old Heather Heyer was killed after being run over by a vehicle.

A final report released on Wednesday said that the pilot's inability to properly recover after the chopper began to roll led to the crash.

The report also states that Virginia State Police did not provide proper training as to how to recover from their situation
