COLONIAL HEIGHTS, Va. -- As more rain is forecast to fall across central Virginia overnight, officials in Colonial Heights said flooding has forced the closure of a bridge Saturday night.
"The Sherwood Hills bridge near the Boulevard is closed due to fast moving water," Deputy Fire Marshal J. E. Boisseau said. "In order to exit Sherwood Hills residents will exit on Swift Creek Lane on to Branders Bridge Road, north into Chesterfield County."
Officials urged drivers to use "extreme caution" on the roads.
Multiple flood warnings are in effect and a Flash Flood Watch continues through Sunday morning. There is the potential for more locations to get multiple inches of rain overnight. Areas of fog are likely, with lows in the mid and upper 60s.
