Police ID man killed in Richmond on New Year's Eve

RICHMOND, Va. -- Authorities have identified the person killed in a shooting on Richmond's Southside early New Year's Eve as a man in his sixties.

Officers were called to the 2900 block of Jefferson Davis Highway for the report of a person shot at 4:40 a.m., according to officials with Richmond Police.

"Once on scene, they found Eusebio Calderon suffering life-threatening injuries from an apparent gunshot wound," officials said. "He was transported to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries."

Police said the Medical Examiner will determine the Calderon's "exact cause and manner of death."
