RICHMOND, Va. -- The staff at Richmond Animal Care and Control (RACC) offered up another unique use of social media to find pups their forever homes: virtual animal Easter egg hunts.

The shelter live streamed adoptable dogs having their own mini egg hunts with the Easter Bunny on Facebook and Instagram

Organizers said the goal was to find a way to bring the community into the shelter since they have been been closed for the past month because of COVID-19.

"It was a huge success. They really liked it," RACC Director Christie Chipps Peters "And it just gave us time to focus one-on-one attention, show people that specific dog and talk about their personality. And hope that they may be looking for a dog like that and want to adopt them."
