RICHMOND, Va. – A driver was injured after a tractor trailer hauling cabbage and lettuce crashed on Interstate 95 overnight.

Virginia State Police responded to the single-vehicle crash at southbound I-95 to southbound I-195 interchange at 12:54 a.m. Wednesday.

State police says their preliminary investigation revealed the driver of the tractor trailer was traveling southbound I-95 and attempted to go I-195 south when it lost control, hit the jersey wall and overturned in the right lane and shoulder.

Damage sustained caused a fuel spill and loss of load.

The driver was transported to the hospital for treatment of minor injuries. Charges are pending against the driver and the crash remains under investigation, according to police.

VDOT in addition to Richmond Fire and EMS assisted with the cleanup that resulted in lane closure for several hours.
