Deputies identify 22-year-old woman killed in Hanover crash

HANOVER COUNTY Va. -- An Ashland woman was killed after losing control of a vehicle and crashing in Hanover County early Monday morning.

The Hanover Sheriff’s Office responded to a single vehicle crash on Washington Highway near Dearborn Lane at approximately 4:31 a.m.

"The preliminary investigation revealed that a 1996 Toyota sedan was traveling south on Washington Highway when the driver lost control. The vehicle then crossed both northbound lanes and collided with a group of trees off the roadway," said a sheriff’s office spokesperson.

The driver, 22-year-old Victoria M. Woolcott, 22, was pronounced dead at the scene. There were no other occupants in the vehicle.

Investigators are still investigating the circumstances that led to the fatal crash.
