HENRICO COUNTY, Va. -- A husband has been arrested and charged with killing his wife inside a home in Henrico’s Far West End.
Police responded to the 2300 block of Brookwater Drive, off Pump Road near Ridgefield Parkway, for the report of a suspicious situation at approximately 7 a.m. Monday.
When officers arrived, they found 64-year-old Mui Ung Barron dead inside the house.
She was found in an upstairs room with obvious signs of trauma, Crime Insider sources told Jon Burkett.
Those same sources told Burkett the victim's husband, 53-year-old Michael Louis Barron, called 911.
He was later arrested and charged with second-degree murder.
“In the early stages of the death investigation, it was determined to be a homicide,” a Henrico Police spokesperson said.
Mui Ung Barron's body was taken to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner for further examination and determination of cause of death.
Online county property records showed Barron and his wife have owned their home since 1996.
Neighbor Mitchell Beebe saw a large police response outside of his window Monday morning.
“There was probably 10 police cars out there, an ambulance and two firetrucks,” he explained. “To see all this activity going on this morning was pretty shocking.”
Beebe described seeing officers walk the suspect out of the home in handcuffs.
Neighbors said Mui’s sister also lived with the couple.
“They have two sons and I remember playing with one of them as a kid,” Beebe recalled. “They were always pretty friendly. It’s a terrible loss for them. It’s going to be a tough time for them, but my thoughts and prayers for them.”
A body was removed from the home at 2 p.m. and investigators left the neighborhood after nearly 10 hours on the scene.
Michael Barron is in custody at the Henrico Jail.
