CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. -- A teen was killed in a crash that closed westbound Hull Street Road (Rt. 360), near Skinquarter Road (Rt. 603), in Chesterfield Wednesday morning.

Police say the crash involving a Kroger tractor trailer and a car occurred at about 8:55 a.m.

"Police said a tractor trailer was traveling west on Hull Street Road when a 1992 Pontiac Grand Prix, which was traveling east on Hull Street Road, pulled from a crossover into the tractor trailer's path. The tractor trailer struck the car," said a Chesterfield Police spokesperson.

The driver of the car, a 17-year-old male from Amelia, was pronounced dead at the scene. His name has not been released.

Kroger Mid-Atlantic released a statement that read:

“Today, we learned that a Kroger truck was involved in an accident on Hull Street in Chesterfield County that resulted in the death of a minor. We extend our deepest sympathies to the victim’s family over this tragic loss as we offer our full cooperation to law enforcement investigating this incident," said Allison McGee, corporate affairs manager for Kroger Mid-Atlantic.

Police continue their investigation into the crash.

This is a developing story.
