NEW KENT COUNTY, Va. — Colonial Downs has canceled its races scheduled for Saturday, July 4, because of the extreme heat.
Races on Sunday and Monday will begin at 10:45 a.m. instead of the normal 12:30 p.m. start time. Gates will open to the public at 10:15 a.m. on those days.
The track has also added an additional day of racing on Monday, July 13.
Steeplechase racing and Corgi races continue each Thursday through Sunday. Racing runs through a special Labor Day racecard on Monday, Sept. 7.
