GREENSVILLE COUNTY. Va. – Deputies have identified a man found shot to death along a Greensville County road Thursday afternoon.
Officials said in an update Saturday that the victim is 27-year-old Motique Desmond Jackson of Weldon, North Carolina.
The discovery left people who live in the quiet communitystunned.
A couple driving along Rolling Acres Road spotted what they believed to be a body at approximately 4:30 p.m. Greensville County sheriff's deputies arrived to find a male victim shot to death.
"It's kind of scary to just be in the area and just to see something so close to you happen," said Katrina Hardy, who lives nearby.
"This is like a shock to me, you know,” neighbor Alvin Walker said.
Investigators were back Friday morning looking for clues and collecting evidence.
"This is a very quiet portion of the county; we hardly ever have any calls for service out here," Detective Chris Rook said.
The Greensville County Sheriff's Office asked for the community’s help to solve the murder.
"You didn't see anything suspicious yesterday, did you? Any vehicles parked? Anything going on?" Rook asked a driver passing through Rolling Acres Road.
