Best Buy closing Brandermill, Mechanicsville stores

CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. -- Best Buy has announced plans to close their Brandermill and Mechanicsville stores.

A Best Buy spokesperson confirmed the Brandermill store, located at 4931 Commonwealth Centre Parkway, will close on February 27, and the Mechanicsville store, located at 7297 Battle Hill Drive, will close on March 6.

The spokesperson did not give a specific reason for the closures, but did send CBS 6 a statement via email.

“The decision to close a store is never an easy one, and we are grateful for our customers who have shopped with us over the years at our Brandermill and Mechanicsville locations," said the spokesperson. "Customers can continue to shop with us at our other four stores in the Richmond-area."

Those stores include another location in Chesterfield, two in Henrico County, and a location in Colonial Heights.
