Arrest made in Chesterfield Towne Center food court shooting

CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. -- Police arrested a 23-year-old Petersburg man for a shooting at Chesterfield Towne Center.

William Ezell Taylor Jr., of Hinton Street, was charged with aggravated malicious wounding and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony in connection to the June 23 shooting.

"At about 6:10 p.m. on June 23, police responded to a report of a shooting in the food court at Chesterfield Towne Center. Once on scene, officers located one adult male victim who had been shot. The victim was taken to an area hospital with life-threatening injuries," a Chesterfield Police spokesperson said. "The initial investigation indicated the shooting was the result of a fight between two individuals. After the shooting, the suspect fled the scene."

Police arrested Taylor at about 2 a.m. Wednesday. He is due in court later Wednesday morning.
