RICHMOND, Va. -- A Richmond mother and her sons are grappling with the anniversary of their love’s ones unsolved murder one year ago.
"More than anything my boys deserve justice -- like it ain't right,” Chantae Leach said.
Detectives are still looking for witnesses that can help bring Antoine Deleston's case toward closure.
"They know exactly who it is,” Leach said. “He's been questioned before and nothing has been done."
The father of two was killed in broad daylight while sitting in his car on the outskirts of Whitcomb Court on Aug. 22, 2019.
"It's been hard especially trying to raise them two boys without him,” Leach said.
Deleston was always a dad first, Leach said. She called the love he had for his two sons inspiring.
And when the doorbell rings, Leach said their two-year-old still runs to the door as if his father is going to walk inside.
With the recent violence in the area, her motherly mission has been telling her sons to be leaders, not followers.
"I just got to keep them on the right road and keep them away from this stuff,” Leach said. “I don't want to raise my boys like that. I want my boys to grow up, go to college, do good."
