RICHMOND, Va. – A group Richmond students had a once-in-a-lifetime experience Sunday when they received a cooking lesson from Michelin Star winning French Chef Jean Marc Tachet.

The nine Richmond Public Schools students learned how to prepare one of the courses that will be served at a culinary fundraiser at Perch benefiting the RPS Tech Center culinary program.

Defiant Food Group’s Ben Pasternak said bringing introducing students to the culinary arts and sciences is important.

“[We] give kids a chance to have a future that is brighter than where they might have started from, I think we end up in a better place as a society,” Pasternak said

Perch’s chef Mike Ledesma along with Chef Tachet will lead the six-course French Filipino dinner at the restaurant Monday.

Additionally, some of the students will join in and help serve their prepared course.
