RICHMOND, Va. — Virginia State Police Trooper-Pilot Berke M.M. Bates was laid to rest Friday following a public memorial service at Saint Paul’s Baptist Church on Creighton Road. Bates was killed last Saturday when his helicopter crashed outside Charlottesville, Virginia.
