Henrico truck driver killed in Route 460 crash

DINWIDDIE COUNTY-- A Henrico truck driver was killed Wednesday morning when his logging truck overturned on Route 460 in Dinwiddie County. A woman who was also in the truck suffered life-threatening injuries.

"A 1995 GMC tractor was traveling east on Route 460 when it ran off the road to the left overturning in the median and partially ejecting the driver," Virginia State Police Sgt. Steve Vick said. "The driver of the tractor trailer, Melvin T. Johnson, 31 of Henrico County died at the scene, a female passenger in the vehicle was transported via med-flight to [VCU Medical Center] with life-threatening injuries; they were not wearing seatbelts."

The cause of the crash remained under investigation.

The crash was reported at about 1:42 a.m. on Route 460 east bound near Trinity Church Road.

Police closed the road while investigating the crash and to clean up debris. The road reopened later Wednesday morning.
