HENRICO COUNTY, Va. – An armed suspect stole a woman’s purse in broad daylight outside her West End apartment Saturday morning in broad daylight.
"To hear that happened right next door, in broad daylight, at 8 o’clock in the morning? It’s scary,” said Stephen Dubois, who lives in the apartment complex.
Dubois said the victim had returned home to the apartment off Patterson Avenue from her overnight shift . When she backed her car in, neighbors think the man was watching from a vacant apartment home nearby.

A neighbor said the victim always backs her car in and then checks to make sure she is parked between the space’s lines.
“As soon as checked on this side and came around, he came right out the door and held the gun to her face," Dubois recounted.

Police said that while the gunman tried to hide his face with a red bandanna, he is believed to be anywhere from 15 to 20 years old and either white or Hispanic with wavy hair.
While the bold crime comes as a surprise to people who live in the area, they said it serves as a reminder to never let your guard down.
"I get scared because I have two kids,” Dubois said. “And it’s weird to me because I’ve been living here for four years and I’ve never heard nothing like this ever happening in this area."
