Virginia woman arrested for conducting bloody chicken sacrifice in living room

Posted

STERLING, Va. — A woman was arrested and charged with animal cruelty after she admitted to sacrificing between 12 and 15 chickens a week inside her Sterling, Virginia home.

Loudoun County Animal Control was called to Mercy Carrion’s home last month to investigate.

Inside the home, investigators found blood splattered across the wall of the living room, religious idols, a club and shield covered in blood and feathers, chicken bones, and one large human bone.

Carrion told investigators she sacrificed chickens in her living room for religious purposes, according to a warrant filed by Loudoun County Animal Services.

Investigators noted the chickens were killed in an inhumane manner.

Carrion was charged with three misdemeanor counts of animal cruelty.

She is due in court June 1.
