‘Rapid gunfire’ witnesses say after triple shooting in Northside

RICHMOND, Va. -- Three people were shot on Richmond's Northside Tuesday, according to police.

One shootings happened in the 3300 block of First Avenue, near the community center, just after 4 p.m. Two people suffered non-life-threatening injuries. The third person suffered life-threatening injuries.

There were two crimes scenes, as one victim was found a few blocks over on 3rd Avenue in Highland Park.

The locations are not far apart. Sources tell CBS 6, the man found a few blocks over on 3rd Avenue ran from the scene after being shot. He has life-threatening injuries.

People who live nearby say it sounded like a war zone when the shots rang out.

"Rapid gunfire in... just simple as that," said Tyrone Sherman. "There are kids in this park all the time. It’s too much to even bring them out here anymore."

There is no information on a suspect at this time.
