HENRICO COUNTY, Va. — Police identified the woman killed on Brook Road early Saturday morning as 38-year-old Wendi R. Mayhew, of Studley Road in Mechanicsville. Mayhew, police said, was walking on Brook Road at 2:26 a.m. when a car hit her.
“Henrico Police and Fire personnel responded to Brook Road near New York Avenue an accident involving a vehicle and a pedestrian,” Henrico Police spokesman Lt. Chris Eley said. “A vehicle was traveling southbound on Brook Road approaching New York Avenue in the center lane when it struck a pedestrian. The driver immediately stopped and notified police.”
A preliminary investigation revealed neither speed nor alcohol contributed to the crash, Lt. Eley said.
