RICHMOND, Va. -- Police and fire investigators are looking for 22-year-old Brandon S. Brown of the 3200 block of Logandale Avenue in Richmond. Brown, investigators said, was wanted for arson and attempted murder following an August 9 fire at an apartment on Clarkson Road.

"The investigation revealed that Brown reportedly set the fire inside the home after locking a woman inside another room of the apartment," Richmond Police spokeswoman
Susan Rowland wrote in an email. "The woman managed to escape the building uninjured."

The woman was Brown's girlfriend and a mattress and box spring were set on fire, Richmond Fire Lt. Andre Roberts said. He added Brown made it hard for the woman to escape.

"The door was jammed where she could exit and the fire was set in the living room area," Roberts said.

Brown was known to frequent Southwood Apartments on Clarkson Road and South Gate Apartments on Maury Street, police said. Anyone with information about Brown was asked to call Richmond Fire Investigator Andre Roberts at 804-646-6814 or call Crime Stoppers at 804-780-1000.
