CAROLINE COUNTY, Va. — A Ruther Glen woman was killed Monday morning when her 1998 Ford Taurus ran off the side of Jericho Road (Route 658) near Jefferson Davis Highway (Route 1), according to Virginia State Police. The crash happened at about 2:35 a.m.

“A 1998 Ford Taurus was traveling on Route 658 when it ran off the road and struck a log that was laying in the ditch line causing the vehicle to go airborne and overturn, coming to rest in the road way,” Virginia State Police spokesman Sgt. Steve Vick said. “The driver of the Ford, Dawn M. Williams, 32, of Ruther Glen, Virginia died at the scene; she was wearing a seat belt.”

Neither speed, nor alcohol was considered a factor in the crash.

Williams was headed home from work at the time of the crash, her manager at Tim’s at Lake Anna said.

“She had hung out with several co-workers last night before heading home, and wouldn’t even have a drink because she had to drive home,” Daphne Barbrow said. “This is crazy and extremely devastating.”
