Missing man with autism found, reunited with his family

HENRICO COUNTY, Va. – Robert Holmes Jr., a 34-year-old man with autism who vanished in Lakeside Wednesday afternoon, was located Thursday morning, according to Henrico Police.

“Robert was located this morning at approximately 9:10 a.m. and reunited with his family,” Henrico Police spokesman Lt. Chris Eley said. “Thanks to the media and community for spreading the information for a positive outcome.”

Holmes Jr. was last seen around 1 p.m. Wednesday at his home in the 6000 block of Ellis Avenue. He was described by police as a “high functioning autistic adult” known to frequent area libraries and bookstores.

Police have not yet disclosed details about where or how he was located.

Police used bloodhounds to aid in the search for Holmes Wednesday night. Additionally, Henrico police set up a command center at Lakeside Volunteer Rescue Squad.
