RICHMOND, Va. -- Richmond Police identified the man killed in an early morning domestic dispute on Grove Avenue as Woodrow E. Anstead, 38, of South Stafford Avenue in Richmond. Police were called to a home in the 4600 block of Grove Avenue around 1:45 a.m. Sunday.
"Officers were called... for the report of a domestic argument between a male and a female," Richmond Police spokesman James Mercante wrote in an email."[Anstead was found] suffering from a knife wound."
Anstead was taken to the hospital where he died. The Medical Examiner will determine cause and manner of death, police said. Earlier, police said they had taken a person of interest into custody for questioning.
"The Richmond Police Department detectives have consulted with the Commonwealth’s Attorney’s Office. This has been classified a death investigation and detectives are not seeking suspects at this time," Mercante added. "The investigation continues.
