HENRICO COUNTY, Va. -- A six-hour standoff ended at about 3 a.m. Tuesday when Henrico Police took a man into custody. Police were called to the 6300 block of Milllhiser Avenue, near West Broad Street and Horsepen Road, around 9:15 p.m. Monday when neighbors reported hearing gunshots coming from inside a home.

"Anytime you have someone that's alleged to have a weapon, and then you have other reports that the weapon has been fired, it becomes a concern for the community," Henrico Police Capt. Doug Barker said. "It also becomes a concern for law enforcement responding into that situation."

While he did not release the man's name, Barker said Henrico Police had been called to the man's home for previous incidents. Barker was unable to confirm whether or not the man actually fired a weapon inside the house. He did confirm no shots were fired while police were on scene overnight.

"Although not a major, major incident this evening, there is some complexity involved here because we have to make the safest approach on the residence as possible to render the best outcome possible," Barker said.

During the operation, police informed neighbors to stay indoors for their own safety. Anyone with additional information about this situation can email a news tip here.
