BURKEVILLE, Va. — Charges are pending against a driver for his role in an early morning crash in Nottoway County.

Virginia State Troopers say the driver of a 2001 Jeep Cherokee was travelling East down the middle of road on Route 307 (Holly Farms Road) near North Genito Road around 5:00 am Saturday morning when they encountered a Fed Ex big rig coming in the opposite direction.

The truck driver swerved to avoid the Jeep and side-swiped the SUV.

The big rig went off the road in the West bound lane while the Jeep went off the road, down an embankment and overturned two times.

First responders arrived at the scene and transported the driver of the Jeep to South Side Community Hospital in Farmville with non-life threatening injuries.

Troopers closed the intersection of North Genito Road and Holly Farms Road until crews could clear the wreck.

State police are still investigating the accident and say charges are pending.

The trucker was not hurt.
