ASHLAND, Va. — Ashland Police Officer Paul Stirnaman’s kind act received praise from his boss, Ashland Police Chief Doug Goodman. Stirnaman and his daughter spent time this week beautifying Smeeman Memorial Plaza outside the town’s police department.
“Officer Stirnaman completed this task on his own time and personally handled the costs involved,” Chief Goodman posted on Facebook. “Many thanks to Off. Stirnaman for this act is service.”
It is National Police Week and Harry Smeeman is the only Ashland police officer ever killed in the line of duty. Seeman was killed in June 1929.
