HENRICO COUNTY, Va. — Police identified the man killed in a Thursday night motorcycle accident as Anwar S. Edwards, 34, of Henrico. Edwards was pronounced dead at the scene of Thursday’s crash near the intersection of Charles City and Poplar Spring Roads.

“Preliminary investigation revealed that a 2013 Harley Davidson motorcycle [driving by Edwards] traveling eastbound on Charles City Road was approaching the intersection of Poplar Spring Road. At the same time a 2010 Toyota Camry southbound on Poplar Spring Road approached the intersection of Charles City Road,”a Henrico Police spokesman wrote in a email. “The operator of the Toyota Camry stopped for the stop sign at the intersection of Poplar Spring Road, and then pulled onto eastbound Charles City Road, and into the path of the motorcycle. The motorcycle turned to the right in an attempt to avoid the collision, but sideswiped the right side of the Toyota; ran off the right side of the road; and subsequently struck a tree head-on.”

The investigation into the fatal crash remained on-going, police said. Friends and family of Mr. Edwards who would like their condolences or memories included in this article can email their messages here.
