HOPEWELL, Va. — The severely decomposed body found in the woods off Station Street in Hopewell last month was identified as Daquaine Cortez Hinton, 20, of Petersburg. A man walking his dog found the body April 5. Hinton was reported missing March 26.
Hinton was charged in September with first degree murder as a principle in the 2nd degree for his involvement in the slaying of a man near the Knights Inn on East Wythe Street in Petersburg.
“The cause and manner of death are still undetermined, but police are labeling the death as suspicious,” Hopewell Police wrote in an email. “The Hopewell Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Unit continues to investigate this matter.”
Police asked anyone who may have information about Hinton’s death call Detective Mike Parsio at 804-541-2284 or Hopewell/Prince George Crime Solvers at 804-541-2202. Anyone who knew Hinton and would like to share their remembrances or condolences can do so here.
