PRINCE GEORGE COUNTY, Va. – Two people were taken into police custody Monday after leading officers on a chase in Prince George County. The chase began after officers came across “something suspicious” at a hotel in the 12200 block of South Crater Road around 2:30 p.m. When officers stopped to question the two people inside an SUV stopped in the hotel’s parking lot, police said the driver put the vehicle in reverse and then took off. Officers used "tire deflation devices" to eventually stop the SUV, but not before two police cruisers were struck by the suspect’s vehicle.
"The fleeing vehicle almost struck one of the officers in the process," Prince George County Police Chief Ed Frankenstein wrote. "The officer was able to jump out of the path of the suspect vehicle and gave chase to the man who fled on foot. Additional officers pursued the vehicle until it came to a stop in the City of Hopewell after a 20 minute chase. Both suspects were captured by the police. Cocaine and marijuana were seized from the suspects."
Walter Howard Tucker, 39, of Hopewell was charged with possession of a controlled substance, eluding police, driving with a suspended license, hit & run and destruction of property. Darius Hogan, 20, of Hopewell, was charged with possession with intent to distribute and possession of marijuana.
