HENRICO, Va. -- Henrico County Division of Fire responded to the 5600 block of Crenshaw Road in Henrico County’s north side for an apartment fire at 1:18 Saturday afternoon.

Occupants in the apartment were alerted to the fire in the apartment by a working smoke detector. Everyone in the apartment was able to make it out of the building uninjured.

First arriving units reported smoke from the front of the apartment building and found a small fire inside the apartment. They were able to bring the fire under control quickly and prevent the spread to the other apartments in the building.

The apartment where the fire originated was the only apartment to suffer fire and smoke damage. The adjoining two apartments suffered minor smoke damage.

The fire was marked under control at 1:59 p.m.

The Fire Marshall’s Office is currently investigating the cause of the fire. One adult and one child will be displaced for a short period of time due to the fire. No injuries were reported.

Fire officials are reminding renters and homeowners to check your smoke detectors on a regular basis to ensure that they work properly and change the batteries twice a year.
