CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. -- A driver who fell asleep behind the wheel crashed his car and knocked out power in Chesterfield County on Friday morning, according to police. The driver crashed into a power pole on Iron Bridge Road (Route 10) near Osborne Road at about 12:30 a.m. The driver fell asleep, lost control of his car and struck a power pole. The pole was knocked down as a result of the crash. Information about the driver's condition was not immediately available.
Police closed travels lanes in the area to investigate the crash and so Dominion Virginia Power crews could fix the power pole. Travel lanes reopened around 5 a.m. Dominion Virginia Power showed no outages in Central Virginia as of 6:50 a.m.
