RICHMOND, Va. -- An early morning homicide off the 3500 block of Jeff Davis highway is disturbing for people living nearby.
"I looked at her as man little sister, really, I did,” said an unidentified close friend. "I didn't think it was her."
Richmond Police say 35-year-old Lynette Gregory was found shot inside of a room at the City Motel. Detectives believe the motive may be drug-related.
"It was behind some drugs? It couldn't have been behind that much to murder somebody," said the unidentified friend.
And the City Motel is the same location where there was a reported stabbing last September.
Management at the City Motel tell CBS 6, they have "security on the premises and they are working with police."
Owner Bill Patel says Lynette Gregory lived here for about three weeks and described her as a nice lady.
He added that if they see any illegal or suspicious activity, police are called right away.
And, he says visitors are not allowed after 10 p.m. -- unless management is notified.
Patel says he is hiring a security guard on Monday.
While detectives wrap up their investigation, one neighbor says his thoughts are with Gregory.
"I feel sorry about it. But I mean it was wrong,” said the friend.
Richmond police have arrested Wayne Martin, 33, of the 2200 block of Dinwiddie Avenue and Davon Creer, 23, of the 4100 block of Woodys Court. Each been charged with conspiracy to commit murder.
