CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. — Police sent out an alert Friday about a person calling Chesterfield homes posing as a police officer and asking for donations.

“Police are investigating three recent incidents in which an unknown suspect has claimed to be a Chesterfield County Police officer in an attempt to defraud victims of money,” a Chesterfield Police spokeswoman wrote in an email. “In each of the incidents, which occurred on Jan. 29 and Feb. 4, the suspect called the victim, claimed to be an officer with the police department and asked for a donation. The suspect is described as a male with a heavy northern accent.”

The Chesterfield County Police Department advised it would never calls homes asking for donations. Anyone with information should call Chesterfield Police at 804-748-1251 or Crime Solvers at 804-748-0660.
