RICHMOND, Va. – Virginia State Police are on the scene off of I-295 at mile marker 40 in Hanover County near Green Pole Road. A single vehicle crash involving a fatality has shut down the right lane of northbound traffic.  Virginia State Police say that the vehicle involved had four passengers, two of whom were transported to MCV Hospital. One passenger is still at scene. Two northbound travel lanes are closed.

The investigation is still on-going.

Elsewhere, for the second time tonight, an accident in Dinwiddie County has all travel lanes closed on a major road. This time, all westbound lanes on VA-266 at mile marker 3 were shut down. As of 10:22 p.m., the accident was cleared.

Traffic came to a halt in Dinwiddie County earlier tonight when all northbound lanes on I-85 were shut down due to a multiple-vehicle crash.

Earlier today a crash on I-95 south in Chesterfield backed up traffic for more than three miles.
