Child screams for help after driver hits mom near Forest Hill Park

RICHMOND, Va. -- Richmond police are looking for a hit-and-run driver who hit a mother near Forest Hill Park.

The woman's child, who police described as under 10 years old,  witnessed the hit and run which happened at about 2 a.m. Thursday along the 4000 block of Forest Hill Avenue near the intersection of Roanoke Street.

A passing vehicle hit the woman when she stopped her car in a travel lane and got out of the vehicle, police said.  The car that hit the woman drove off.

Richmond police described the suspect vehicle as a dark-colored sedan.

Neighbors heard the woman's child scream that her mom had been hit.  Those neighbors called 911.

The woman was taken to VCU Medical Center with serious injuries. The child was not hurt.
