Police identify two women seriously hurt in head-on collision that closed Route 33

LOUISA COUNTY, Va. — Two women were flown via Med-Flight to VCU Medical Center after a head-on collision Monday morning on Route 33, near Whispering Pine Lane, in Louisa County.

Melissa A. Meagher, 43, of Mechanicsville and Robin Nash, 57, of Bumpass, suffered serious injuries, according to Virginia State Police spokesman Sgt. Steve Vick. Police said Meagher’s 2005 Ford Escape crossed the double yellow line and hit Nash’s 2004 Ford Explorer.

“The crash currently remains under investigation and charges are pending,” Vick said via email.

The road was closed at about 7:45 a.m. so emergency crews could respond to the crash. The road reopened at about 9 a.m.
