Gayton Road crash knocks out power in the West End

HENRICO COUNTY, Va. -- One lane of Gayton Road is closed between Ryandale and Pump Roads after an Friday morning crash. The lane is expected to remain closed through noon.

"Henrico County Police Division is currently investigating a single vehicle accident on Gayton Rd. at Tunbridge Dr.," Henrico Police Lieutenant Scott Kubicki said. "There are no injuries that occurred from this accident, however there is a power outage in the area."

Power was restored at about 7:35 a.m.

Before power was restored, traffic lights are not working at the following intersections :

  • Lauderdale @ John Rofle Pkwy - lights out.
  • Ryandale Rd. @ Gayton Rd. - lights out.
  • John Rolfe Pkwy @ Gayton Rd. -lights flashing

The closed lanes could impact traffic getting to and from the Steward School which is near the crash scene.

More than 1,000 customers were without power in the Richmond area, according to theDominion Virginia Power website.
