HENRICO COUNTY, Va. — One firefighter suffered minor injuries while crews were working to put out an apartment fire near Brook and Parham roads Wednesday afternoon.

It happened along the 1500 block of Presidential Drive around 3:30 p.m.

“First arriving units made it on scene in four minutes,” Henrico Fire Capt. Danny Rosenbaum said. “First arriving units reported smoke from the bedroom window on the second story of the apartment building. Crews were able to bring the fire under control quickly and prevent the spread to the other three apartments in the building.”

No one was home in the apartment where the fire broke out. Other residents made it safely out of the building.

The apartment where the fire started was the only unit that sustained fire and smoke damage.

“Because of the quick extinguishment of the fire no one will be displaced by the fire,” Rosenbaum said.  “No injuries were reported by the residents of the apartment building as a result of the fire.”

The Fire Marshall’s Office is investigating what sparked the blaze.
