The snow will become heavy at times between the onset and 2 a.m. Thursday.
In the wee hours of the morning, the snow will mix with and change to sleet and freezing rain in Richmond for several hours as the storm system draws milder air into the mid and low levels of the atmosphere.
The storm will continue to move up the coast, with wrap around snow, sleet, and rain remaining possible into early afternoon Thursday.
