RICHMOND, Va. (WTVR) — The Jefferson Hotel in Richmond received the the AAA Midatlantic Five Diamond Rating for the 20th year. The hotel is the only one awarded with the Five Diamond award in the Central Virginia area.

Four and Five Diamond rated hotels and restaurants make up only 4.2 percent of all of 59,000 AAA approved and Diamond rated establishments throughout North America.

AAA rates more establishments than any other rating business. In total, AAA inspectors visit about 1,200 hotels and restaurants every week. These inspectors are trained for trend-setting style in the hospitality trade.

“Five and Four Diamond hotels and restaurants are committed to providing every guest with a personalized experience and attentive service in comfortable, high quality surroundings,” said Martha Mitchell Meade, Manager of Public and Government Affairs for AAA Mid-Atlantic, in an email. “These establishments consistently exceed the expectations of the most discriminating traveler.”

Some hotels in the area that received the Four Diamond Rating include The Berkeley Hotel in Richmond, The Boar’s Head in Charlottesville, and The Hilton Richmond Hotel and Spa, among several others.

Restaurants that receive the award are well known for their creative chefs, diverse menus, and top quality ingredients. Restaurants in Central Virginia that received the Four Diamond Rating include Fossett’s of Keswick, Lemaire of Richmond, and The Old Mill Room in Charlottesville.

“We are proud to have these dedicated businesses in our region,” Meade said
