RICHMOND, Va. -- Energy moving southwest of us this morning will thicken clouds through the metro. A few sprinkles may be possible as well. The remainder of the day will be partly sunny, with a quick warm-up, and highs reaching the low to mid 50s. A similar day is expected Friday ahead of a seasonally strong cold front.
The front will move through Virginia Friday night bringing dry and cold conditions to the region this weekend. Highs will struggle to get out of the mid 40s both Saturday and Sunday.
The pattern gets more active next week as a series of storm systems affects the area. Rain will overspread the area on Monday, with some wintry precipitation possible at the onset in northern and western Virginia. The timing and strength of a disturbance later in the week is still uncertain, but there remains another opportunity for wintry weather on Thursday.
