RICHMOND, Va. -- As of 3a.m. snow showers began in the metro, bringing us a brief round of wet snow.

Up to an inch of snow will be possible around Richmond, mainly on elevated and grassy surfaces.

Higher totals near 1-3 inches will be possible along the Virginia-North Carolina line where a Winter Weather Advisory is in effect.

The snow will end before sunrise today, with clearing skies and breezy conditions developing. Highs will only reach the upper 30s and low 40s, despite plenty of sunshine.

Friday and Saturday will be dry and cold days under mostly sunny skies.

Another storm system will spread precipitation into the area on Sunday, likely in the form of a wintry mix.

This system could evolve into a slow-moving nor’easter, bringing significant snow to the area. We’ll continue to track the very latest and will update you on what to expect.
