RICHMOND, Va. -- Rain will increase in coverage and intensity tonight as moisture is lifted up and over a cold air mass in place across Virginia. Wintry mixed precip will be possible in far northern through western Virginia. Temperatures in the Richmond area will hover in the mid to upper 30s overnight. The rain will taper Tuesday morning, with dry and milder conditions in the afternoon.
Wednesday will be dry and seasonally cool, with clouds increasing late in the day. A storm system will spread rain and snow across the Commonwealth Wednesday night into Thursday morning, with some light accumulations of snow. This currently appears to be a minor event, with most areas receiving less than 2”. The snow will end by mid morning Thursday with breezy and very cold conditions Thursday night into Friday morning.
Friday and Saturday will be mostly sunny and cold days as strong high pressure remains in place over the region. A disturbance will bring a light wintry mix into the region Sunday and Monday. Some minor accumulations of snow and ice will be possible.
